As long as some people like Windows OS and others like Mac OS, the debate will never be settled. Since there are benefits to both systems, and one will always be preferred over the other by the individual users. The computer has many uses, and a Mac is better for some and Windows is better for others, so you need to know why you need a computer, and buy one accordingly. Each OS has its advantages, and that is what we will look at.
If you want to use your computer alongside a bunch of external devices you are going to have better options with Windows. When you buy a Windows 7 based computer, for example, your CPU will usually come with built in blu-ray as well as readers for multi-format cards and memory sticks. Lots of people want to be able to connect a television to their computer, but Mac users can only do this when they have special converter tools. If you have Windows 7 installed on your PC, however, you shouldn’t have any trouble making a direct connection to your television set. This allows you to watch any videos that are available online on your television. In general, PCs running Windows are more compatible with external devices than Macs are, except for devices that are made by Apple of course. Many of the most popular products made by Apple today aren’t computers, but iPhones, iPods and iPads. However, if you have a Mac, it’s easy and convenient to connect these devices to your main computer. When you are a Mac user, you’ll have free access to the iCloud service and that will make it very easy to sync your computer with your iPad, your iPod and your iPhone. So when you want to download things like videos and other content on your external devices, it’s easy to then transfer them to your primary computer. Obviously you’ll only find this beneficial when you enjoy using mobile devices made by Apple. If you have a PC, it’s generally much harder to sync them with other devices such as mobile phones.
Macs come with their own set of absolute advantages and one of those advantages is the extensive support the company offers. With Windows, there are lots of different levels of support and they depend on where the computer was bought and the brand that manufactured it. Yet if you do a little research, you’ll find that many brands of PC have poor or at best mediocre customer service. When you want top notch customer support you’re forced to pay for it.
Macs, however, enjoy a far superior reputation for their technical support. Not only do you have the ability to call for more support, Apple has lots of repair centers which enable you to simply take your computer in for service rather than having to ship it off somewhere.
There are any number of reasons you might prefer Windows or Mac OS over the other. While we’ve looked at some of the benefits of both, when it comes down to it you have to make your decision based on your own needs, preferences and budget. Depending on how you are going to use your computer and how much you want to spend and which interface jives better with you, you may end up liking either Windows or Mac OS better.
